Fall is a wonderful time a year for nature lovers – especially those living in Huntsville, AL.
It’s the time of year when trees in the Tennessee Valley turn a fiery range of orange, yellow, and red, as the air gets a little cooler.
As a lifelong resident of Huntsville, my favorite place to see fall in all of its glory is at a local state park, and Huntsville’s own Green Mountain Park / Madison County Nature Trail is one of the best places to take in autumn.
Green Mountain Park in Autumn
The park is located in South Huntsville on Green Mountain, and boasts a beautiful lake, historic wooden covered bridge, a small wooden chapel and historic log cabin.
Visitors can fish in the crystal clear lake, or hike one of the many trails that winds up the mountain.
There is also a pavilion for events, and the quaint wooden chapel can be reserved for that perfect fall wedding.
Green Mountain Park is located on Green Mountain Road.
Editor’s Note: Green Mountain is also a great place to take a fall selfie! It might even be good enough for your Christmas cards.
