The sign reads 37,481 pieces. Those “pieces” are individual LEGO bricks. And that’s just one sculpture!
I recently spent an afternoon looking at these amazing LEGO sculptures at Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
Mind. Blown.
The Garden is one of my favorite places, but I wasn’t prepared for how impressed I would be.
This exhibit is mind-blowing not for the sheer number of LEGO bricks and the way they are used, but for the way the sculptures are integrated in the Gardens.
Here’s a peek at what you can expect to see. But don’t substitute these pictures for seeing it in person.
And see it soon. The exhibit, Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks by Sean Kenney, is here through July 26, 2015 only.
Here’s a few of the 37,481 pieces in the sculpture I referenced above.
The integration of the sculptures into the Gardens is stunning.
One of my favorites!
Stunning red rose defies gravity!
The one photo that I altered. I Photoshopped out the suspension wire that the bee hangs from. Just cause I wanted him to look a little real. GIANT and real.
Breathtaking in person.
My second favorite and the most expressive.
I know, this is is NOT LEGO’s. But he’s so cute! AND he lives at the Botanical Gardens, so close (kinda).
This is but a small sampling of these fun sculptures. There are 14 in all, and even though I was pretty sure I’d seen them all, when I got home and checked the map….sure enough I’d missed one.
My advice to you? Don’t miss any!
