Broadway Theatre League is closing out their 2014-15 Season with a fun show – “I Love Lucy” Live on Stage, March 27 – 29, 2015.
Not your average Broadway musical, you’ll be transported back in time to the 1950’s where you’ll LOL to the antics of Lucy Ricardo and the whole Desilu bunch.
Realizing this comes at the tail-end of Spring Break week, I must ask you to pause a moment from your beach, camping or stay-cation fun to read my 3 reasons why you’ll want to see this show.
1. Because you really do LOVE Lucy
America loves Lucy and to have a chance to see an actor portray Lucy in some of the most beloved episodes is a real treat. All the reviews say the cast is amazing!
2. A peek behind the (1950’s) scenes
What was it like to film an episode of I Love Lucy with a live studio audience? Find out when you become that audience during this show.
3. Not your average stage show
The concept of getting to see I Love Lucy on stage is pretty unique. Not only do we get to briefly live in a world where Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel are right in front of us on stage, but we get in-between-scene entertainment from the Crystaltone Singers! So that’s what commercials were like in the 50’s.
Extras
I asked BTL’s Executive Direct, Andrew Willmon, to let me know what else folks can expect this weekend at the show. And guess what he said? Show patrons will have a chance to win 2015 – 16 Season tickets by entering their favorite I Love Lucy episode in a drawing! How cool is that!
There will also be a custom I Love Lucy cocktail and trivia to enjoy before the show. And don’t forget to channel your inner Ethel at the selfie station.
If you have a chance to experience this show this weekend, please do. It’s all ages friendly and a real treat! Can’t wait to see what BTL brings to town next year.
