For me, Christmas is all about the lights.
I’m not fond of the annoying Christmas songs that play on repeat during the month, or the mad dash of buying presents before the good holiday sales are over.
Some people might be quick to call me a Grinch, but my closest family and friends know that my one saving grace is my love of Christmas lights.
I have fond childhood memories of my family members piling into my mom’s minivan every December in search of Christmas lights.
Just thinking about driving slowly by glittering houses covered in lights gives me the warm holiday fuzzies. To this day I still venture out in search of spectacular Christmas lights, and I’m glad this year I didn’t have to look very far.
Share the Love of Christmas
Huntsville has some great places to see top-notch Christmas decorations – one of them being the newly established Christmas Card Lane in Historic Downtown Madison.
Created by the Madison Arts Council, Christmas Card Lane shares the love of Christmas with the community by displaying life-size Christmas Cards along Church and Front Street in Downtown Madison (bordering the square).
Each card displayed in a front yard or in the historic square has been painted by a local artist, and ranges from religious to hilarious. Visitors can drive through the historic neighborhood during the day or at night to take a gander at every card, and then cast a vote for their favorite on the Madison Art Council’s website.
Christmas Card Lane Details
Christmas Card Lane is illuminated every night until 9:00 pm, and runs until January 2.
See a card you just gotta have? A select number will be auctioned off after December 21. The funds will be used for Christmas Card Lane 2015.
