For the very first time, The Color Run is coming to Huntsville. The big day is Saturday, September 27, 2014.
If you are unfamiliar with this 5k race, dubbed “The Happiest 5k on the Planet” it’s best to start with this image:

Now, let’s assume you’ve taken on the challenge and decided to participate. To that, we say
WOOHOO!
We are here to make sure you are ultra prepared for this unique experience!
What Everyone Should Know About The Color Run Huntsville
The Color Run partners with local charities, and for Huntsville they have chosen The Arts Council. A great fit, don’t you think?
TAC Executive Director Allison Dillon-Jauken told us,
“The Color Run takes a popular community event, the traditional 5k, and infuses it with creativity to make an engaging, fun and memorable experience just as area artists and arts organizations do in our community every day.
We’re excited to partner with them to bring a big splash of color to downtown Huntsville on September 27.”
Be in the Know List

1. Be prepared!
You will get color everywhere (undies included)!
2. Close your mouth when running through color zones.
The color is a fine powder and you want to keep it out of your mouth and eyes (see #3).
3. Wear sunglasses.
Sunglasses can help keep color out of your eyes. Or goggles…if you’re going for a more unique look!
4. Bring a disposable camera.
The color can even get into tiny cracks and ruin your camera or phone. If you have to have your phone, place it in a ziplock bag for protection and don’t open the bag until you’re in the clear.
5. Take a before and after photo!

6. Stick a few tissues in your pocket.
You will get doused with color every kilometer. Having a tissue on hand will help in case your nose gets tickly!
7. Buy makeup remover wipes.
They work great to get the color off your skin.
8. Bring a towel to sit on in your car on the way home.
9. To preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it.
We found this awesome tidbit on The Color Run’s FAQ here. There’s actually lots of great info here and worth the time to read through.
