Somehow, August 15 – 16, 2014 will end up being one hot downtown weekend in Huntsville.
That may or may not be the case weather-wise, but it will most certainly be the case for HOT entertainment!
Check out what’s in store for that one epic weekend.
1. Huntsville Restaurant Week kicks off with A Night Out With the Chefs
When: Thursday, August 14, 2014, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: This Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau event is at Straight to Ale
Host Christy Jordan from SouthernPlate.com will help the audience get to know these top Rocket City chefs and try to dig into the well-kept secrets behind their scrumptious dishes.
Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Deep Roots. Buy tickets online or stop by our Visitor Center at 500 Church Street to purchase tickets in person. Huntsville Restaurant Week runs August 15 – 25, 2014.
2. Street Food Gathering
When: Friday, August 15, 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: Monroe Street in front of the Von Braun Center
The ever-growing & wildly popular Downtown Huntsville, Inc. street food gathering is moving to a new location at Monroe Street! That means the park is still easily accessible, as is the Von Braun Center Craft Beer Garden that has been a great addition to last two food truck rallys. 3. Movie in the Park
When: Friday, August 15, 8:30 pm
Where: Big Spring Park
The third and final Historic Huntsville Foundation Movies in the Park takes place with the beloved movie The Wizard of Oz. Grab your blankets, lawn chairs and bring the whole family.
4. The Hottest Weekend of the Year Fest
When: Saturday, August 16, 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: Big Spring Park East
Officially the street food gathering is a part of a new weekend event from Downtown Huntsville, Inc. that really heats up Saturday with a concert in Big Spring Park with the Pine Hill Haints, hot sauce and hot pepper eating contests and more.
5. Rocket City Tailgate Challenge
When: Saturday, August 16, 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
Where: Von Braun Center
The Rocket City Tailgate Challenge is a new event at the VBC that includes all things tailgating and football at a free Expo, Cooking Competition and Football 101 Clinic.
The day kicks off with the Cooking Competition outside where folks will compete for cash prizes. There will be a free Expo inside and the Football 101 Clinic is for the person that enjoys football but needs to be taught the rules of the game.
