Downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring Park is the place to be during the spring and summer months.
Families with children, couples and groups of friends have started cropping up all around the park to feed the ducks or play Frisbee.
The city’s Healthy Huntsville initiative is taking advantage of the great weather by offering active games and classes every Saturday in the park.
Dubbed Summer Saturdays by Healthy Huntsville, the string of fitness events is hoping to get major exposure this weekend with Healthy Huntsville Super Saturday, a 3-hour event packed with fitness-themed entertainment, starting at 9:00 am.
Something for Everyone
Huntsville citizens that are searching for a fun and inexpensive way to get active need look no further than Summer Saturdays. This weekend’s Super Saturday includes a variety of classes to appeal to different types of fitness personalities.

Hardcore workout aficionado? Try Adventure Boot Camp, Crossfit, or Bodycombat.
Love dancing? Take Zumba or Hula Hooping. Need to relieve stress? Sit in on their Yoga classes.
For those who love to bike, there will be a Mayor’s Bike Ride through Downtown Huntsville at 11 am.
There will also be a Farmer’s Market, cooking demonstrations and wellness screenings. Moon bounce & face painting will help to keep active kids entertained.
Bike With the Mayor
Speaking of the Mayor’s Bike Ride – bring your bikes and helmets (helmets are required) to join the Mayor on a 4-mile loop around town. Meet onWilliams Avenue, behind the Museum of Art.
Get Healthy
These classes are free to attend and are held every Saturday starting May 17th. Super Saturday will be held from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, and Summer Saturday classes are at 8:30 and 10:00 am. The series runs from May 1st through October 4th.
Healthy Huntsville is hoping to promote a healthier lifestyle for the community of Huntsville, and to combat obesity in both children and adults.
