Summer is upon us and schools are about to release students, making your child restless in anticipation of sunshine, water parks, and vacation.
So why not channel that extra energy into something fun that also supports your community?
Once again, Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment and Rocket City Mom have come together to organize something pretty far out over at Lowe Mill for Good Day 2014!
This year the theme is KIDSTOCK and all the fun is happening on Saturday, May 10th at noon, and the party is going to the max until 4:00!
Can You Dig It?
This year the host is Eco-Magician and dynamite dude Steve Trash! His stellar mix of 70’s music will certainly entertain kids while giving parents a flashblack to a time of tye-dye, floral print, and polyester fashion.
Speaking a fashion, get your outfits ready for a hippie costume contest in which only the totally fab will win!
There will be plenty of food trucks on the premises to satisfy your munchies and of course lots of funkadelic music to boogie to.
This year the amazing Tangerine Tambourine and Huntsville Community Drum Line will give performances that are sure to be a gas.
And don’t forget the Huntsville Public Library’s Puppets, Gabrielle’s Face Painting, Hula-Hooping with Chrisha, the jugglers, Alexander’s Martial Arts for karate demonstrations, pony rides, and a closing marching band parade around the building!
Free You Say?
There’s no question about it, on Saturday May 10th Lowe Mill and Rocket City Mom’s Good Day 2014 KIDSTOCK is going to be the hippest thing in town.
The real question is can you dig it?
Admission to this event is free, but all donations will go towards funding the construction of Lowe Mill’s new playground.
Speaking of the new playground, there is a coloring sheet for download. Have your child color what they would like the playground to look like. Bring with you or email to lowemillhuntsville@gmail.com.
So pull up your bell-bottoms, strap on your bandanas, and lace up your platforms; it’s time to get your inner hippie prepared for a full day of outdoor activities!

About the Author: Sharon Singletary
Ok, lets just get this out of the way now: Sharon hates cheese. No she is not allergic, and yes she knows you are judging her already. But look at the brightside, this just means more cheese for you! Sharon is a Huntsville native (well Hazel Green is close enough) and proud graduate of Auburn University. She obtained a BA in Art History and minor in technical writing; because research papers just didn’t provide enough outlets for her need to research and write about it. But basically she loves art and performance, and of course talking about it on her blog Art For a Hungry Sharebear. After landing a sweet job with Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment as Historian and Assistant Gallery Coordinator, Sharon has been pleased to rediscover Huntsville, and appreciates how much the art and music scene in her hometown have grown. There is always so much going on she can’t decide what to do, and that’s how she likes it.
