Our very own Gadsden, Alabama rapper with a southern drawl will spit straight lava lyrics at Crossroads this Friday night. That’s right! We’ve got Michael Wayne Atha, better known as YelaWolf – and a favorite of Eminem – in the Rocket City this weekend.
Performing along with Yela is Huntsville native Jackie Chain, an up-and-comer who has opened for groups like TI, Paul Wall, and 3-6 Mafia. Chain described himself in a recent Huntsville Times article as a “little country boy from Alabama.” The thirty year-old artist wears city pride on his sleeves with Huntsville Stars and Huntsvegas tattoos.
For those unfamiliar with the vocal stylings of our Alabama rappers, check out Yelawolf’s ‘Pop The Trunk,’ which features prominent references to both Alabama and Auburn Universities. Jackie Chain’s new mixtape After Hours drops February 7, and features a much-anticipated track ‘Don’t Violate’ with Gangsta Boo. Fans can see other videos by both artists on YouTube.
This show is certain to be epic. It is a rare chance to see home-grown Alabama talent in an intimate venue. Don’t miss out!
Tickets are available online or by calling the Crossroads box office at 256-513-6733. Doors open at 8 pm. This is a 19+ show. $15 advance / $20 at the door.
