Earth Day is officially April 22 but you can celebrate early at one of the best places in North Alabama to enjoy nature – Hays Nature Preserve.
Join Operation Green Team for Earth Day at Hays Nature Preserve 2014 this Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Free Fun for the Whole Family
This Earth Day Festival includes activities throughout the day. Enjoy:
- Birding Hike with John Ehinger at 8 am (bring binoculars)
- Free tomato & cucumber plants (2 per family)
- Fantasy Playhouse Puppet Shows
- Noon butterfly release
- Face painting & make-and-take crafts
- Over 70 earth-friendly exhibits & vendors
- Demonstrations throughout the day
- and so much more!
There will be exhibits and tips on energy-efficiency and solar power.
Learn how to fly fish with the Tennessee Valley Fly Fishing Association.
Visit with an owl, snake, gopher tortoise with the Coosa River Science Center.
Visitor’s are encouraged to pack a picnic and there will be healthy fare available at the Festival. Water stations will be on hand for refilling reusable water bottles.
Continue Your Day with a Treasure Hunt
Children visiting Burritt on the Mountain’s exhibit at Earth Day at Hays Nature Preserve 2014 will receive a free pass for the afternoon to Treasure Hunt at Gold Mountain.
