You might have missed it because of Huntsville’s wacky weather, but March 20 was the first day of spring.
Make sure you don’t miss these top spring races 2014:
1. Scholarship Fund Run 8k
Every year the Huntsville Track Club holds the Fund Run 8K to benefit the Harold and Louise Tinsley fund, which awards a deserving high school track star a scholarship to continue their love of running at the college level. Registration online here, or for more information contact Tab Barnett at 256-883-5124 or Tab@Knology.net.

2. Heel & Crank
For those who like to run and bike, the Heel & Crank Duathlon is the best of both worlds. Starting in Mooresville, competitors run 3 miles, jump on their bikes for 13.5 miles, then run 3 more. It’s for a great cause – ALS research – in the memory of late triathlete Darin Kruse, and all entrants will be treated to pancakes and trimmings after the race. Email race director Eric Broyles at heelandcrank@gmail.com or phone 256-417-2373 for more info.
When: April 12, 8:00 am
Where: Mooresville
How Much: $55
3. Bridge Street Half Marathon
One of the most anticipated races of spring is the Bridge Street Half Marathon, run through the Bridge Street Town Centre shopping complex and Research Park. It filled up quickly, but race director Suzanne Taylor is reopening registration for 90 more spots on April 1. Registration and information can be found at here. Also, if you do both the Heel and Crank and Bridgestreet Half back to back (Saturday and Sunday) you’ll receive a special beer mug commemorating your achievement. Cheers.

How Much: $60
4. Boston Commemorative 3-5 Mile Fun Run
Fleet Feet Sports will be hosting a fun run to unite runners and walkers to remember those lives that were lost and those that were injured at the 2013 Boston Marathon. The fun run will start and end at Fleet Feet Sports.

All proceeds benefit Marshall County families and sexual assault victims. There will also be a kids duathlon, moon bounce and lunch. Registration open through April 25 here.
