This new show opens Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Harrison Brothers.
Get to Know Leslie Lockhart
I had a short Q & A with the artist so we could get to know her a bit before the show.

What inspires you when you paint?
I love painting simple subjects. No matter what the subject, the inspiration and reward comes when colors are layered successfully and paint is applied in just the right mix of brush work and palette knife.
It is very exciting to watch a painting evolve as you had hoped.
Is there a particular subject you enjoy most?
That is always changing. Lately, all I seem to want to paint is flowers. Must be a need for warmer weather. But if I paint the same subject matter for too long I get burned out and need a change.
I have been working on the angel series for many years now. Just when I think I can’t do another one, I change something about them or try a new technique and that brings a renewed energy to the work. Animals are always fun. There’s something about the eyes. It is very exciting to watch a painting evolve as you had hoped.
Tell me about being a part of Harrison Brothers’ gallery experience.
Harrison Brothers Hardware has always been such a fun place to go. The gallery section is a very exciting addition. My studio is right around the corner so I pop in often.
I am very happy to be participating in the art show Thursday night. Downtown Huntsville is really doing great things and Harrison Brothers is such a wonderful part of it. [spacer size=”10″]
