In 2007 Jon Reep took home the title “Last Comic Standing” and Friday night I found out why.
Reep performed two shows in Huntsville at Merrimack Hall to full houses. My husband and I had been to Merrimack Hall in November to see comedian Henry Cho and we were excited to have an opportunity to return. If you have not been to a performance at Merrimack Hall do yourself a favor and check out the rest of their season and go! You will not be disappointed in the facilities, the service or the entertainment. Oh wait… this is about Jon Reep!
So here is the scoop… I though he was funny! His comedy revolves around being from a small town in the South and of course all that entails. A self proclaimed “Metro Jethro” he delves into what it is like to go from Hickory, NC to Los Angels, CA. His delivery is genuine and natural and he is not afraid to laugh at himself. Reep has honed his art of everyday storytelling, paired it with a personal anecdotes and created a clean and FUNNY show. Maybe as a Southerner I overly appreciate his southern humor but there were times I could totally relate to a story or identify with one of the characters. He has come a long way from his “That thing gotta Hemi?” days!
After the show Reep made himself available to everyone in the lobby. He was happy to sign the merchandise he had for sale or just join you for a picture. In person his completely genuine personality was engaging and you felt like he loved just being there and so did I.
