And what better excuse to have a big bash than the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s downtown Visitor Center celebrating 10 years?
The day to celebrate is this Saturday, March 15, 2014 from from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Fun activities will be on going throughout the day , but a special unveiling with city and county leaders will take place at 2:00 pm, that you won’t want to miss!
Let the Celebration Begin
This is a very special party for an important place.
“The goal of this event is to share with the community the services we offer at the Visitor Center: an information resource for both visitors to our community as well as locals,” Judy Ryals, president and CEO of the CVB said.
“You’ll find Visitor Information Assistants who stand ready to answer any and all questions about what to do in Madison County, attraction discount coupons and more.”
So what can you expect at this big 10 year celebration?
All the elements of a good party, of course!
1. Food
There will be Happy Birthday cupcakes and sweet treats, of course. But no true bash would be complete without some good stick-to-your-ribs food. That will be taken care of by the Badd Newz BBQ and Crave Heat food trucks.
2. Activities
This bash is fun for the entire family. The Visitor Center will have face painting and a sidewalk chalk art competition. TOPPS the astronaut will be on hand too.
3. Prizes
This is the kind of party where YOU get the presents. Register to win some amazing Alabama getaways.
“We will be giving away stays in Gulf Shores, Mobile Bay, Florence and Birmingham, golf passes to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove and much more,” Ryals said.
“You don’t have to be present to win, but you do have to come by to register.”
4. Secret Surprise
Finally, the Visitor Center Birthday Bash has a pièce de résistance! Be there at 2:00 pm to see the big surprise.
Ryals adds, “We’re excited to unveil an interactive and digital element to our Visitor Center. We can’t go into too much detail, but we can say this: the Visitor Center is ‘going green’ just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.”
About the Visitor Center
The Visitor Center offers visitors to and residents of Huntsville/Madison County a wealth of information on what to see and do in the Rocket City and surrounding areas. Open 7 days a week, Visitor Information Assistants stand ready to answer any and all questions about sights to see, dishes to savor, attractions to visit and more. You can also pick up attraction, sporting and art discount coupons at the Visitor Center.
While you’re there, be sure to ask about the Lucky Duck Scavenger Hunt, pick up a clue card and start your journey to find all 12 bronze ducks hidden throughout downtown Huntsville. (You just might find one hidden at the Visitor Center!)
There are several events happening in downtown Huntsville this weekend, including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Make another fun weekend downtown and help celebrate 10 years of keeping Huntsville folks and out of town visitors well informed.
