I get a lot of questions from readers on my blog, The Dining Dragon, asking me about various local dining topics. And since I imagine many others in Huntsville are facing these same dining dilemmas, I will be tackling one of these questions each month on Our Valley Events.
This month’s question comes from an anonymous reader, who asks:
My wife and I have recently moved to town and are looking for interesting new places to try. In particular, we are looking for a good happy hour place with a great atmosphere and a creative cuisine.
When I think of Happy Hours, two spots immediately spring to mind–the Broken Clock and The Eaves.
Huntsville Happy Hour #1: Broken Clock Gastropub
The Broken Clock Gastropub is located on South Parkway, so it might not be convenient, depending on where you are located. They have a fun menu (bacon marmalade!), delicious drinks (I’m partial to the Basil Collins myself), and a classy bar atmosphere.
The formal “happpy hour” runs from 4-6, Tuesday through Fridays, but it’s worth staying as they feature live music, comedy, and trivia later in the evenings.

Huntsville Happy Hour #2: The Eaves
The Eaves is more centrally located, just north of downtown, but offers happy hours only on Thursday and Friday nights. Their 5:01 at 501 for $5.01, is a series of small plate specials starting at 5:01 pm at 501 Church St priced at $5.01. They feature live entertainment and house specialty mixed drinks.
If you are looking for something more intimate after your drinks, you can segue from happy hour into dinner and enjoy the range of their full menu.
