Sci-Quest, Hands-on Science Center is getting geeky, and this time all the geeky fun is for adults! That’s right the center known for making science fun for kids is now turning its attention to the adults of Huntsville with a new monthly workshop series, Geeks Night Out.
Geektastic Event
So are you a geek? Or are you looking to expand your science knowledge? Or meet some new folks in town? Then Geeks Night out is for you!
Each workshop will cover a different topic from wearable electronics to digital photography and will be lead by a Sci-Quest educator. Workshops will run from 6:00-8:30pm and are held at Sci-Quest. Cost for the workshops is $20 for Sci-Quest members and $30 for non-members. Reservations are required, so make your’s today on the Sci-Quest website!
Libations
Now, all this learning is bound to work up an appetite! So bring along some of your favorite food and drink to snack on while you learn. Or come early and visit the food trucks in the Sci-Quest parking lots. Starting at 5:30pm the On-On Tacos and Sugar Belle food trucks will be available in the parking lot. Wearable Electronics: Geektastic Costumes

Molecular Gastronomy: Geekify Your Thanksgiving Feast
- Date: Thursday, Nov. 14
Learn about the field of molecular gastronomy, and see some of the cool stuff chefs are doing in the kitchen. Finally, make cranberry gels that pop in your mouth, little pillows of gravy, chocolate noodles, and mess with your guests’ taste buds. More information.
Digital Photography: Unleash Your Creativity for the Holidays
- Date: Thursday, Dec. 12
We will show you how to create some simple, but fun digital photography effects with a geeky twist – using holiday lights, aperture settings, macro, and a few photo editing techniques. Bring your own digital camera and a USB cable or card reader to download and edit your photos.
