Attention neon-loving masses of Huntsville! If any of you happened to miss out on Dayglow’s paint party rave, there is a local opportunity to enjoy neon paint splatter and upbeat dance music this October. Neon Vibe 5k is coming to Huntsville October 5th and decking out Univeristy of Huntsville in Alabama’s campus with blacklights, party music, and glow-in-the-dark paint.
A Glow in the Dark Race?
What exactly IS a Neon Vibe 5K?
It’s is an after-dark, fluorescent glow light fun run (THIS IS NOT A RAVE). Each course is designed to light up the night with several UV black light glow-zones, upbeat dance music, and amped runners who are dressed up and ready to party.
Neon Vibe is a 5k fun run, but you don’t have to run to participate.
People are encouraged to run, jog, walk, or dance to the finish line if they wish. Note for hardcore racers: this is NOT a timed race and your first priority is to have fun, not leave the non-runners in the dust.
Speaking of fun, there is an aftervibe celebration near the finish line for people who don’t want the party to end! If 5k’s aren’t your thing, you can always show up, cheer on participants, and kick it at the aftervibe part in your brightest neon clothing. Proceeds from the run will benefit Children’s of Alabama. Neon Do’s and Don’ts
What does one wear to a race that’s also a party? Here’s what the folks at Neon Vibe recommend:
- Costumes: the more ridiculous the better!!!
- White: For best color effects, wear neon colors with a white shirt
- No Fanciness: wear clothes that you are not in love with because some of the colors may stain
