Grab your lab coats and test tubes: time for Sci-Quest’s annual fundraiser, the 2013 Mad Scientist Ball! This is a must-attend premier event, but it’s only for adults, so hire a babysitter and leave the kids at home for this Sci-Quest trip.
Science Fun
This Saturday the Science Center will transform into a mad scientist’s laboratory for one night only, and I recommend you get your tickets now because the 2013 Mad Scientist Ball is one event you don’t want to miss! Einstein’s can munch on food and drinks, enjoy live entertainment from American Lane Band, and support the nonprofit by participating in a silent auction.
Plus the dress code is lab coat optional, and seriously, how many events do you get to break out your lab coat for?
“The Mad Scientist Ball is our major fundraising event of the year to support the many activities we offer at the Center,” said Cyndy Morgan, director of Sci-Quest. “If you and your family enjoy spending time exploring our exhibits or participating in the education programs, please support us by attending this unique event.”
And yes, in case you’re wondering, all regular the exhibits will be open (and free of little kiddos) during the 2013 Mad Scientist Ball for attendees to enjoy. In fact, you’re encouraged to explore Sci-Quest’s many fun and educational exhibit’s during the event.
Celebrating Excellence
The Quest for Excellence Awards recognize outstanding contributions of individuals in the greater Huntsville community in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The 2013 awards focus on the area of ENERGY, and will be presented to members of the community who have, through ingenuity and innovation, made significant contributions to our understanding of, or applications in, the areas of energy science and technology.
“We are proud to be able to honor these men and women at such a wonderful event. It is a great way to recognize the great work they are doing for our community and our nation,” said Morgan.
Awards will be given to individuals who work in the following categories:
- Industry (for-profit and non-profit are encouraged to apply)
- Government
- Academia (Post Secondary Education)
So throw on your best Emmett “Doc” Brown costume, grab your friends, and head over to the 2013 Mad Scientist Ball this weekend!
