Welcome summer with the good time, bluegrass harmonies of Tangled Strings Band in the Flying Monkey Theatre on the second floor of Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Tangled String Band is a dynamic blend of Americana, progressive bluegrass and acoustic roots music, with influences ranging from Bill Monroe to the Beatles, to the Grateful Dead to Allison Krauss, to whatever strikes their fancy.

Black Arts Festival

It’s the return of WEUP’s Black Arts Festival to the grounds of Alabama A&M! This exciting change of venue occurred due to the exponential growth of festival attendees over the years. This year the community will celebrate the 20th Black Arts Festival as a fundraiser for the Harris Home for Children.

The Whimsical Woods- Pinnochio’s Puppets & Slice of Swiss
@ Burritt on the Mountain, Puppets Saturday @ 11am, Slice of Swiss Sunday @ 2:30pm & 3pm
Burritt on the Mountain has created a wild and wonderful game called The Whimsical Woods and you must be a part of it!. Each Saturday, you will have the chance to perform with custom designed puppets as their puppeteer guides you and you can even enjoy making a puppet to take home! It’s a great opportunity to be entertained and share in the fun!
Sunday, don’t miss Slice of Swiss, selected scenes from Swiss Family Robinson: The fun and challenges faced by a family on a deserted island. These scenes are fun for all ages, but especially for younger children. Find this performance at the Tree House.

I would love to hear the Tangled String Band but I have never heard of Lowe Mill or the Flying Monkey. What type of admission is there and is this a place that serves drinks or is it just easy listening?
Hi Michele! Larkin with Our Valley Events here. Admission to the Tangled String Band show is $8. You’ll find the Flying Monkey (and Lowe Mill) at 2211 Seminole Drive in Huntsville. There is no bar anywhere on Lowe Mill’s premise (the Flying Monkey is a venue inside Lowe Mill) but you’re welcome to bring your own beverages (adult or otherwise).
