Belle Chevre, an award winning artisanal goat cheese maker, recently opened a flagship storefront in Elkmont. The store offers Belle Chevre products, accessories, and accompaniments in a boutique-style shop.

Located in downtown Elkmont, the cozy little store fits right in with the feel of the rural town. We made the short trip up there last weekend, and it was definitely worth the drive.

Goat Cheese Family

We have been a goat cheese family for several years, ever since my husband and I first tasted a Belle Chevre cheese. We spread the gospel of the delicious creaminess everywhere we go. Our fridge is stocked with spreads, marinated goat cheese, and classic goat cheese, so I can have a “sexy, skinny, smart” snack whenever I choose.

To say I was excited about an entire shop dedicated to my favorite food is an understatement.

The town is quiet, and since it’s small, the shop isn’t hard to find. It’s in a row of other small businesses across from the Red Caboose. The store itself is clean, bright and inviting. A woman at the counter invited us in and offered us samples.

We tried the pimento cheese spread, coffee goat cheese spread, and the marinated goat cheese. We of course purchased all three before we left. The clerk suggested recipes and things to pair with the cheese, and gave us a little information about the creamery. She was definitely part of what made the experience so enjoyable.

The goods

There are shirts, soaps, cheese making kits, gift baskets, art and kitchen items in the store, too. They are planning on operating a café in the space after the grand opening. The seating area in the front of the business is cozy, and will be the perfect place to have a meal.

I look forward to returning to check it out. You should check it out too! Their grand opening is April 13th. Until then, I’ll be noshing on pimento spread grilled cheese sandwiches and coffee spread stuffed French toast. [spacer size=”0″]
