Giddy up! The rodeo is coming to town! And by town I mean the Von Braun Center. And by coming I mean they’ll be here Friday February 1st and Saturday February 2nd. Here are my top 5 reasons you MUST go to the Sheriff’s Lone Star National Finals Rodeo this weekend.
Reason #1: More is Better
What’s better than one National Championship competition? EIGHT National Championship Competitions!! You heard me right: the Sheriff’s Lone Star National Finals Rodeo will feature competitions in eight different categories:
- Bare Back Riding
- Calf Roping
- Barrel Racing
- Bull Riding
- Team Roping
- Steer Wrestling
- Cowgirl Breakaway Roping
- Saddle Bronc Riding
Can I get a yee-haw??
Reason #2: A Good Cause
This is not just a fun night out. The Sheriff’s Lone Star National Finals Rodeo is also a fundraiser for the Madison County Sheriff Department under Sheriff Blake Dorning supporting two great organizations, Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) and the Army Emergency Relief Fund.
The Alabama Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of shattered lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, as determined by Federal criteria.
Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a private, nonprofit organization that was created to help Soldiers and their Family members who experience financial emergencies like rent, utilities, emergency travel, and more.
Reason #3: The Best Entertainment
The Sheriff’s Lone Star National Finals Rodeo will also feature the best of the best in rodeo entertainment.[spacer size=”0″]
Here’s a sneak peak:
- Top Rodeo Clowns
- Entertaining Announcers
- Crowd-pleasing Entertainment
- Championship Presentations
- And much much more!
Reason #4: Fun for the whole family
A night out at this weekend’s rodeo is the perfect family outing. Why? Because there are activities for the entire family.
For the little ones: starting at 6pm, the rodeo will hold free activities for kids ages 10 & under including:
- Face Painting
- Gold Rush – Hunt for your fortune in the hay stack!
- Kids Barrel Racing – Whose stick horse can run the barrels fastest?
- Roping – Kids get to practice roping a target just like real cowboys.
- Best Dressed
AND each night the first 250 kids 12 & under recieve giveaways! Friday is Bandana Night, and Saturday is Flashlight Night.
For the grow-ups, there will be live music starting at 5:30pm in the Bud Light Cafe both nights! Friday night the featured entertainment will be Music Row Magazine’s “Independent Artist of the Year” Eric Lee Beddingfield. Saturday night will feature Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band.
For everyone, rodeo participants will be available on the concourse each night after the Rodeo to sign autographs.
Reason #5: Bragging Rights
And the final reason? You can actually say, “This isn’t my first rodeo.”
