The worlds of rock and roll, photography, and great wines collide this month as the Women’s Guild of the Huntsville Museum of Art presents Rock the Museum, for its 43rd annual Winter Wine Event.
The Exhibit
The event centers around a new exhibit, Sound and Vision: Monumental Rock and Roll Photography, which opens January 26 and features photographs of iconic performers from the last five decades in the world of rock and roll, blues, and hip-hop.

There are around 20 photographers represented in the exhibit who either went on tour with these musicians or at some point captured candid shots of them. But this event is more than great wine, great music and great art; it is a fundraiser for the Huntsville Museum of Art.
“Designing the Women’s Guild’s Winter Wine Event around an exhibit opening is a new way to promote the Huntsville Museum of Art’s current offerings AND raise money for their ongoing educational programs and exhibits simultaneously,” Rock the Museum Chair Kelly McCool told me.
Then there’s the wine
You can enjoy two events with wine and music starting with a Wine Tasting Friday, January 25. There will be live music from Microwave Dave and The Nukes. You will also have a chance to preview the exhibit.
The featured vintner is Wines That Rock, a winemaker from Mendocino, Calif. They have created offerings such as Grateful Dead Wine, Rolling Stones’ Forty Licks Merlot, Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon, Woodstock Chardonnay, and The Police’s Synchronicity.
