Are you looking for an easy way to sample food from a wide array of Huntsville restaurants? Want to support a great cause at the same time? Then Taste of Huntsville is just the event for you! (And me! This is one of my favorite fall events in the Valley.)
Citywide Buffet

Now in its 38th year, Taste of Huntsville offers what is essentially the biggest buffet in town. Participating restaurants each have a table offering small, bite sized samples of their dishes. Typically they choose either signature dishes or new menu additions they are excited about.
Seating is unassigned and the atmosphere is casual, allowing you to meet fellow foodies and exchange recommendations. And those recommendations are extremely useful as there are so many different dishes available to try that you are likely to run out of appetite long before you exhaust them all. (Appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, dessert, sodas, beer, wine, liquor….)
You Be the Judge
The dishes are judged in several categories (including a people’s choice!) with awards going to the the top 3. While some are predictable (last year, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse was the Overall Taste Winner), others might surprise you (Burger King’s dessert beat out Sage Grill’s). If you are looking to take a short break before deciding what to taste next, you can check out the silent auction. This year’s auction notably includes tickets for the Alabama-Tennessee game on the 20th.
This year, Our Valley Events’ Digital Media Wizard Larkin Grant will be LIVE tweeting from the Taste of Huntsville and so even if you can’t make it to the event, you can still follow all the action! If you’re on Twitter just follow the hashtag #TasteHSV. Not on Twitter?
Two Great Causes
Your ticket does more than just get you in the door, the proceeds from both ticket sales and the silent auction are split between two chosen charities. The charities for this year are CAJA and the Johnny Stalling’s Arts Program out of Merrimack Hall.
About The Johnny Stalling’s Arts Program

to children who wouldn’t otherwise not be able to participate.
The Johnny Stalling’s Arts Program is comprised of four separate outreach programs, each dedicated to furthering the arts in our community’s special needs children. Three of the programs focus on dance, while the fourth (in conjunction with UAH) is centered around the visual arts.

About CAJA
CAJA of Madison County works to help children in the judicial system by training volunteers to serve as their advocates during legal proceedings. Advocates make a long term commitment to the child ensuring a continuity in the process until the child can be placed in a “forever” home.
