Looking for something unique and fun to do next Thursday night? Why not check out the Madison Arts Council’s annual fundraiser, Amore Art Silent Auction and Dinner? The event is being held at the Blue Pants Brewery in downtown Madison. Blue Pants is one of Alabama’s first breweries and tap rooms open to the public. Dinner is being catered by Famous Joe’s Pizza, a local Madison business owned by Joe Carlucci, a 3-time world pizza champion. Sounds like a yummy combination to me!
The Event
“The Madison Arts Council (MAC) is excited to bring the annual dinner and silent auction event, Amore Art back to Madison this year. It’s our major fundraiser for the year and we are excited to have a great venue at Madison’s only artisan craft beer brewery, Blue Pants Brewery.” Beth Ridgeway, Madison Arts Council Amore Arts Coordinator told me.
MAC is asking for donations at the door instead of a set ticket price. Your night will include a pasta dinner from Famous Joe’s and a crafted beer from Madison’s Blue Pants. There will be live jazz music by UAH professor Keith Taylor, and Blue Pants will have all of their delicious beers on tap for guests to purchase. Plus some exciting silent auction items (more on that in a second).
“Events like Amore Arts are so very important because it’s a way to get out with friends, learn about & embrace various different forms of art and help keep the arts alive in our community. The arts allow us the freedom to be who we want to be; that for me is everything from being a Wife & Mom to a singer/songwriter/musician! It’s a way to bless others and be blessed by others,” MAC board member, Cristina Lynn told me.
“We can’t our major sponsors enough for helping the Madison Arts Council put on this event. Jerry Damson Honda and Redstone Federal Credit Union are two companies that completely support the arts and local non-profits,” Beth says.
A Very Artsy Auction
About that silent aucition. This is a fundrasier for the Madison Arts Council so it only makes sense that there’s some amazing local art!

“We have some great art by artists like Michele Lee, Gina Perciful, Lisa Riccardi, Paula Dickerhoff and Tisa Womak,” Beth promised me. (I knew they wouldn’t let me down!)
But that isn’t all they have! The Madison Arts Council is more than just vsiual arts.
“We also will have tickets to Broadway Theatre League, Theatre Huntsville, and Merrimack Hall. We’ll also have date night to the Monaco/Scene and some sweet treats from Maggie Moo’s and Iceworks Shaved Ice. We’ll also have classes from Jennifer Taylor for a paint your pet class and a Green Pea Printing Press class. There are several items other items to chose from and I know someone will find at least one thing that will catch your eye,” Beth told me.
So be sure and bring your favorite form of payment with you![spacer size=”0″]
About MAC
So what exactly does the Madison Arts Council do? Glad you asked! I’ll let Beth explain.
“The Madison Arts Council focuses on providing art of all kinds to the city of Madison. They bring us the Gazebo Concerts in the park each summer, the Art for Paws event that joins art and pet lovers.

“MAC also provides grants to teachers in Madison city and private schools that help them purchase supplies that aren’t covered by other funding. Their goal is to start an art scholarship for Madison City High Schools.”
Well done Beth! I couldn’t have said it better myself! You can follow them on Facebook here. Or learn more about them on their website here.
Up Next
The Madison Arts Council has some exicitng projects in the works for next year, which Beth shared with me.
“We have a few objectives for this upcoming year for the Madison Arts Council. We are expanding The Huntsville Arts Council SPACES sculpture trail into Madison. There are some amazing pieces that will begin to be installed throughout Madison this Fall.
“We are also working to continue our Grant Program. We are taking applications now online until October 30th. These grants are for Madison artists and teachers of the arts. Finally, we are hoping to bring two art scholarships to the Madison High Schools next year,” Beth told me.
Sounds like a great cause to me! I’ll let Beth sum it up for us:
“Come out October 11th from 6:30 till 9:30 and support the arts in Madison, have some fabulous Italian food, sample some great brews with your friends and purchase some great local creations from the area’s most talented artesians. It’s an event I don’t plan to miss! See you there!”
You sure will Beth!
