Decatur Jaycee’s Riverfest
OK, depending on where home is, Decatur might not be much of a drive, but the 18th Annual Decatur Jaycee’s Riverfest is still tops on our list. September 14-15 at Ingalls Harbor, Riverfest offers a sanctioned barbeque competition, food vendors, live music and children’s activities. Music headliner Lee Brice is a CMA Best New Artist of the Year nominee and this year’s kids area includes inflatable’s, face painting, games, a magician and even a bungee jump.

Music headliners this year include Journey, Charlie Wilson, Willie Nelson, Luke Bryan, Big & Rich, Eric Benet, Buckcherry, and Mary Mary. World Chicken Festival
What can we even say about an event celebrating chicken, like the World Chicken Festival! KFC to be more specific. Attracting over 250,000 people every year, this 4 day festival pays tribute to Colonel Sanders himself. Featuring Colonel look-alike contests, clucking and hot wing eating contests, a parade, an egg drop, food (of course!), and entertainment (besides the contests!?) we give this festival the award for most inventive. And with those crowds, it must be a winner, winner, chicken dinner!
