The Valley’s second annual Green U will be held this Saturday at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Green U is a day-long environmental festival which promises to be educational and a whole lot of fun! Saturday’s event will feature music, workshops, demonstrations, and a farmers’ market.
For the Grown-Ups

Attend Saturday’s Green U to learn tips on “green-ing” your home, your eating habits, and your lifestyle. Demonstrations and classes will be taught on such topics as:
- Bike Repair
- Composting
- Rain Barrel Use
- Sustainable Gardening
- Sustainability 101
Food demonstrations will be led by Madison Hospital Wellness Center, and by local food authorities Chef Steve Bunner of 1892 East and Chef Will The Palate.
Throughout the day, exercise classes will be offered in the health tent. There’s something for everyone – from yoga to bootcamp, martial arts to CrossFit. If you dare, sign up for the Healthy Huntsville Fitness Challenge – in which competitors will run, crawl, jump, and swim their way through an obstacle course.
Fun for the Kids

Green U is a fun opportunity for children to learn more about green living. Award winning environmental educator Steve Trash will be wowing kids with his energetic blend of comedy, illusion, and education at three shows throughout the day.
Kids can also go on a treasure hunt, take a yoga class, or climb a rock wall. Burritt Museum, Sci-Quest, and the US Space and Rocket Center will have hands-on activities for young festival attendees. When its time to slow down, kids can relax at story time or in the sandbox.
All Day Activities
There will be plenty to see and do at Green U between scheduled classes and activities. Visit the booths of local conservation groups, environmental organizations, and eco-friendly companies to learn how their products or services can help you “go green.”
