Every now and then, it’s fun to play the tourist right here at home and experience the fun for yourself.
To help you be a hometown tourist, we’ve compiled a list of Touristy Things in Huntsville You Should do at Least Once.

What does a rocket launch really feel like? Find out for yourself when your hit 4 G’s shooting up 140 ft. Screaming is allowed!
2. Visit the Butterfly House at Huntsville Botanical Garden.
Visit the butterflies, turtles and (the hard to spot) button quail at one of Huntsville treasures – the Purdy Butterfly House. Open May through September, it’s a must-see.

Huntsville offers many unique options to find that certain “something”. Visit Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, The Little Green Store, Harrison Brothers Hardware, U.G. White, or Constitution Village. Whether it’s a new fridge magnet or it’s a postcard to mail to a friend, you’ll find the perfect souvenir.
4. Take a Walking Tour.
Take a Huntsville Ghost Walk, a Twickenham Walking Tour or a self-guided history tour. Seeing historic Huntsville on foot is a very touristy thing to do.
5. Spend a Weekend in the Cabins of Monte Sano.
A rustic cabin in the perfect location. Access to hiking trails and a breathtaking view. What more could you ask for than to be an overnight tourist atop Monte Sano mountain?
6. Find the Speakeasy at Straight to Ale.
If you haven’t been yet, here’s your biggest “tourist” challenge. Grab a friend and find the speakeasy.

8. Walk through Big Spring Park.
Exceptionally beautiful in the summer, a visit to Big Spring Park is a must. Bring some quarters to feed the fish.
