With the temperatures dropping there are certain foods we find ourselves craving more than others in these cooler months. Here are seven things we think you should try if you’re looking to counter the chilly weather with some tasty food and drinks.
Viet Cuisine – PhoPho
PhoPho will forever be at the top of our list when it comes to favorite cold weather food. There’s just something so comforting about a huge bowl of soup filled with veggies and noodles and topped with bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, a splash of lime juice, and some Sriracha if you like things spicy.

Piper & Leaf – Hot Tea
Hot tea from Piper & Leaf is where it’s at in the fall and winter! Try Mistletoe Grove or Cherry Christmas if you’re feeling extra festive. We know the Piper & Leaf glass jars are a lot of fun for cold drinks, but they do have pretty blue cups for their hot drinks and they also serve coffee! Check them out at their newest location downtown at Constitution Park.

Phat Sammy’s – Veggie Curry
We were able to try the Veggie Curry with seitan at a Phat Sammy’s pop up at the Holiday Market at The Camp and it was incredible! Phat Sammy’s will be opening a tiki bar and eatery on Jefferson Street downtown and we CANNOT wait! If they pop up anywhere else before then, we highly suggest you seek them out.

Honest Coffee – Mocha
While you might associate coffee with early mornings, Honest Coffee is open until 7pm Sunday-Thursday and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday! This is perfect for those looking to pop in after dinner and warm up with a little treat like a mocha. They also open at 6am for those needing their coffee fix bright and early.

Big Oh’s – Korean Ramen
Big Oh’s is such a great addition to the downtown square. This Korean fusion restaurant has been around since 2015 and is a favorite among locals. The Korean Ramen was the first meal we ever tried here, and we love that it is served with both cabbage and cucumber kimchi!

Hippea Camper – Chili Cheese Grits
Be sure to put Hippea Camper’s Chili Cheese Grits on your radar and check their menu and schedule to see when they feature this delicious meal again! They were at Fractal Brewing when we stopped by on a cold and rainy Saturday night, and this was exactly what we were in the mood for! A bonus is that it pairs wonderfully with a beer (black IPA in this case).

Commerce Kitchen – Old Fashioned
While there are so many places to get an Old Fashioned in Huntsville, we just really love the vibe and cozy interior of Commerce Kitchen, especially the corner tables with street views.
