Hymn for Her- Concerts on the Dock & Cigar Box Guitar Festival

Hymn for Her opens the 9th annual Cigar Box Guitar Festival on Friday night at the Concerts on the Dock from 6pm to 9pm. Concerts on the Dock is a family friendly event that is always free. Feel free to bring your dogs on a leash and food, drinks, blankets and chairs. Event is free, but Lowe Mill accepts donations.
On Saturday, the Cigar Box Guitar Festival opens at 11am and features hand crafted instruments, artist market, workshops and demonstrations, a Cigar Box Instrument Builders Competition in the second floor connector gallery, Bill Jehle’s Cigar Box Guitar Museum and Nickel Guitars on the first floor. Saturday evening enjoy the music of Nadaband, Pat and John Nickel, Little Johnny Kantreed, April Mae and the Junebugs, Justin Johnson, Johnny Lowbo and more.

Youth Fishing Rodeo
@ Brahan Spring Park, Saturday 8:30am
Young fishermen 6-12 years old will be casting for pride & prizes. One fish will be tagged for $1,000. Kids can register on the day of the event under the tent from 7-8:30 AM.

Breakfast Trolleys
@ Constitution Village, Saturday 10-11:30am
Enjoy a light breakfast and coffee aboard a 1920’s vintage-inspired trolley bus, while touring downtown Huntsville and the Twickenham historic district. Tours leave from Alabama Constitution Village at 10 am on Saturdays in June, July, and August.
Narrated by Historic Interpreters, you’ll hear stories about people and places from Huntsville’s Past worth repeating!

Huntsville Ghost Walk

Who is the angry ghost in the courthouse? What is the story behind the haunting tune phantom children sign while playing on Walker Street? Who are the Civil War soldiers who refuse to give up their timeless struggle for life and death?
Does time stand still for these spirits? Learn the answers to these questions and many more on Saturday nights June through October during Huntsville’s Ghost Walk.

Great BIG Play Day

Summer is here, and there’s no better way to take advantage of the warm weather than spending a day with the family in the great outdoors. This family-friendly event showcases almost every square inch of the Garden’s 112 acres of natural beauty. Spread a blanket in the shade of a dogwood tree or claim your spot by the lake.
Take a walk along the Mathews Nature Trail, cool off in a water feature displays and stop by the Damson Aquatic Garden to spot brightly colored fish. It’s up to you! With so many theme gardens, play areas, and open spaces to choose from, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this special summer Sunday. So, pack up that picnic basket, put on some sunscreen, and head to the Garden for a summer day of play that you and your family won’t forget!
Free with Garden admission or membership. Due to the celebration of the Garden’s 25th birthday admission will be 25% off this day!
