The Arts Council is bring street performers, block parties, concerts, live art demonstrations and more to the Quigley Arts & Entertainment District around Huntsville’s downtown square and spanning into Big Spring Park. Celebrate the Fourth of July with the original Living Flag choir and orchestra. This year’s theme is “If My People… Prepare for the Challenge” – both a celebration and a challenge. All tickets are on a first come, first serve basis.

Epic Comedy Hour
@ Flying Monkey Theatre at Lowe Mill, Friday 8-10pm
The Epic Comedy Hour is Huntsville’s best stand-up comedy show. It features local comedians and other guest comedians from the surrounding areas, including Atlanta, Birmingham, Knoxville and Nashville. Epic Comedy Hour, created by Justin Ledlow, began in July of 2011, and has been a popular show ever since. The show is held at 8pm in the Flying Monkey Theatre. Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival
@ corner of Forrest & Beaty Streets, Athens, every Thursday, Friday & Saturday night 6:30-9:30pm (closed July 4th)
This is a summertime don’t miss with rides for kids along with great concessions and bingo! Rides include a small Ferris wheel, rocket ships, carousel, cars, train, roller coaster, and the scrambler. Concessions are available and are very reasonably priced. Each ride is just one ticket, which is 50 cents, with free admission. Discover Tech Closing Event: Tennessee Valley LEGO®
Club Summer Extravaganza
@ Huntsville/ Madison County Main Public Library, Saturday 9am-5pm & Sunday 1-5pm
Come to the biggest local LEGO display yet from the Tennessee Valley LEGO Club! There will be trains, towns, and LEGO creations of all kinds on display, plus activities and a play brick area for the younger visitors. LEGO fans of all ages will be inspired by the things they can build with plastic bricks!

Arts Alive! Block Party featuring the Panoply Arts Festival Homegrown Talent Contest
@ Eustis Avenue stage, Thursday 5-7pm
Art’s Alive block party’s will take place on Eustis Avenue from the downtown square to Greene Street, and the avenue will be closed Thursday evening to accommodate a temporary stage for performers and space for demonstrating artists. The Art2: Arts Alive! block party on Thursday, June 27, features the final round of the Panoply Arts Festival Homegrown Talent Contest, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 28 but cancelled due to severe weather. The Arts Council’s Homegrown Talent Contest has launched many local bands, including The 911 Reporters, Wanda June, Unknown Lyric, and others. A complete list of this year’s Homegrown Talent competitors is available online at www.artshuntsville.org. The public is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to enjoy these performances on the Eustis Avenue stage.
