Huntsville is best known by the locals as “a place with more restaurants than people”.
It seems like a new restaurant opens every month in the Rocket City, but what about the bars and brewhouses that have staked a claim on the same soil?
I thought that places like these deserved a little love, so I’ve listed the three newest bars in Huntsville. All of these places opened in the past year – each one with their own unique flavor.
As one of the signature restaurants in Downtown Huntsville’s Twickenham Square, this Louisiana-style bar and kitchen stands out by offering original creations of Cajun food.
In addition to good eats, this restaurant makes their bar unique by offering a quirky drink menu. With names like “Downhouma Punch” and “Voodoo Sunrise”, you won’t just want to come for the food.
What you should check out: Happy Hour Monday – Friday from 3-6 pm, and Saturday – Sunday 1-5 pm
Old Town Beer Exchange (OTBX)
This ain’t your regular neighborhood bar. Old Town Beer Exchange offers something unique to the downtown crowd, starting with the fact that it is both taproom and retail bottle shop.
You won’t find late night hours or liquor here, but what you will find is expertly chosen craft beer and wine, with a decor reminiscent of Garden and Gun magazine.
What you should check out: Their wine tastings every Monday and brewery events each Thursday.
The latest and greatest eatery to open in Bridgestreet, BJ’s is a perfect combination of family restaurant and bar.
Their full menu is available at the bar, which serves BJ’s own craft beers and local brews, on top of their wine and cocktail menu. If that wasn’t enough, huge flat screen TV’s make the bar and restaurant the centerpiece in Bridgestreet to catch a major game.
What you should check out: The restaurant’s long list of personal craft brews, like HopStorm IPA or Harvest Hefeweizen – see the list here.
