Nature lover’s rejoice at the abundance of hiking trails in North Alabama. There are so many, it’s hard to pick which one to try…. especially if you are new to the area or feel like venturing out from your usual route.
3 Best Hiking Spots in Huntsville
1. Wade Mountain
Wade Mountain Nature Preserve is located in North Huntsville, accessible from Pulaski Pike or Spragins Hollow Road. It’s home to a Greenway as well as several miles of trails. For the “best of” we recommend Piney Loop with Devil’s Racetrack trails.
2. Blevin’s Gap
Located in South Huntsville, Blevin’s Gap Nature Preserve offers a range of difficulties plus some of the best views on any trail. Find the trailhead on Cecil Ashburn Drive. Follow the Certain Trail down to the overlook for a “best of”.
3. Monte Sano
Did you think we’d leave Monte Sano State Park off this list? It’s full of hiking and biking trails, and if you’ve never hit one of these trails…..what are waiting for?
The many, many miles of trails range from easy to pretty difficult. Some of these trails will require some preparation and good gear. For this “best of” we recommend the Bucca Family Trail. It’s popular and easy, but it’s long and good “get started” trail.
