With the year ending and your 2015 Bucket List complete, it’s time for a new year and new challenges. We included something for everyone and a whole year’s worth of fun!

16 Things to Do in Huntsville in 2016
1. Go to an Event at a Brewery
There are enough breweries in Madison County that you can spend the year seeking out new beers and attending fun events at each one.
2. Hit Up a Wine or Beer Festival
Whether you’re a fan of the grape or the hop, there’s a festival for you. Try Rocket City Brew Fest in May or Big Spring Crush Wine Festival in September.
3. Shop Downtown
There are some new kids in town (UG White, The Pants Store) along with those familiar favorites (Harrison Brothers Hardware, Clinton Row Project). Take a shopping trip to Downtown Huntsville.
4. Cook a Meal With Farmer’s Market Finds
Get adventurous! With so many awesome Farmer’s Markets in town, try to buy all of your ingredients fresh and local and then make an amazing meal to dazzle your family.
5. Rent a Cabin on Monte Sano Mountain
You’ve heard the term “staycation”, but this is one mountain retreat getaway that is worth a weekend of your time.
6. Volunteer For a Local Charity
We are BIG fans of volunteering and there are many local groups who would love to have your help this year. Give of your time in 2016.
7. Go on an Adventure
We did all of the work for you in creating this handy Adventure Guide. Put it to use this year.
8. Learn a New Tabletop Game
Tabletop games are back and they can be a super fun way to spend an evening with friends. There are also several gaming groups in town, so Hello new friends!
9. Join a Book Club
Start your own or join a local book club. Whatever you do, plan to pick up a good book (or two or three!) in 2016.
10. Watch a Parade
From the Martin Luther King Jr. parade to the Mardi Gras parade to the St. Patrick’s Day parade to the Veteran’s Day parade…….you get the idea. Huntsville has no shortage of parades.
11. Take in a Local Comedy Show
Huntsville is full of some truly funny people and chances are they are taking a stage near you to get some laughs. Support our amazing comedy scene by attending a show and spreading the word.
12. Go on a Walking Tour
There are free Downtown Huntsville walking tours as well as special experience tours like Huntsville Ghost Walk. Whichever you choose, pick one and go for a walk!
13. Cross the Finish Line
Pick a race, train and finish it. Fleet Feet’s list is a great place to start.
14. Create a Piece of Art
You need some new art. Even better, you need to create it yourself. There are may DIY art opportunities from My Spirited Art to Brews & Brush, and many others in between. Most involve an option to imbibe, so consider that a bonus!
15. Attend an Outdoor Concert
In the park, on a dock or in a field, there are some amazing outdoor (and mostly free) concert options throughout the year. No excuses. Find a concert, bring a lawn chair and have a good time.
16. Try a New Street Food Dish
New street food vendors and established favorites all provide an opportunity to branch out of your comfort zone and try something new. You’re new favorite dish just might be at Pinhook Provisions or maybe the next Street Food Gathering.
