When it comes to creating a bucket list for Alabama, my collection is filled with unique places, and one gem that stood out during our exploration was Bama Bucks. Located about an hour from Huntsville in Sardis City, AL, this hidden gem offers a dining experience like no other.
Our journey to Bama Bucks started a few years ago when we stumbled upon it while visiting Tigers for Tomorrow animal sanctuary. We were really intrigued by the concept and made a mental note to return in the future.
The future is now, and we finally returned to Bama Bucks for one of the most interesting Alabama dining experiences around!
Bama Bucks
Bama Bucks, a wild game and steakhouse restaurant, warmly welcomes visitors with a blazing outdoor fire and cabin-inspired decor featuring taxidermy mounts and chandeliers made from antlers. The ambiance is rustic and inviting, creating the perfect setting for families, friend gatherings, and foodies.
The extensive and diverse menu combines traditional southern favorites such as fried green tomatoes and shrimp & grits with the more adventurous New Zealand elk steak and roasted duck quesadilla. As a family of five with 1 picky eater, we had no issues finding meals to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds.
From our visit, several people visit Bama Bucks for birthday celebrations, and I can see why. Many restaurants have resorted to a low-key ceremony for customers. However, Bama Bucks still gets many of their staff involved in singing loudly and celebrating the birthday person. It encouraged my family to join in and sing along. I’m sure everyone celebrating left feeling a little more special than when they walked in.
Beyond the menu, Bama Bucks sets itself apart with its unique extras. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a multi-faceted destination. Home to an Exotic Animal Park, General Store, Antique Barn, Jack Daniel’s Barrel Room, and Antler Room, Bama Bucks offers more than just a meal – it’s an immersive and memorable experience.
Our journey through Bama Bucks took us on an exciting journey through each area. Starting in the general store, we browsed through locally sourced goodies before purchasing tickets for the Exotic Animal Park. The park, located behind the restaurant, houses a surprising variety of animals, including a Camel, Ostrich, Bison, Kangaroo, Wildebeest, and even a Sloth. The sheer diversity of wildlife in this small Alabama town left us impressed.
Although we didn’t experience it on our trip, the website says they offer Camel and Bull rides for $5.00 each, providing another reason for us to return.
Bama Bucks is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination that combines fantastic dining with a unique wildlife experience. Whether you’re a local or a traveler passing through Alabama, this hidden gem is a must-visit.
