The Monte Sano Art Festival

By Katelyn Henderson

September 16 – 17

Monte Sano Art Festival, presented by Damson Automotive, is back September 16 – 17 in Monte Sano State Park. It’s a local favorite art festival due to its picturesque location, close proximity to the holidays (bring your gift list), amazing juried artists, and just the right sprinkling of live local music and beloved food trucks.

This year, Monte Sano Art Festival features a few changes that you’ll want to know about going in. Here’s the scoop!

Expanded & Revised Artist Layout

Every year, Arts Huntsville receives artist applications that are more than double the available festival booth space. This year, they’ve added 30 MORE artists than last year, working to accommodate even more art. As usual, there will be brand new artists who have never been to the Monte Sano Art Festival before. You can find the full artist lineup here.

Arts Huntsville has expanded artist locations to the Monte Sano Lodge area entrance. This takes advantage of the flat road surface and will provide better for differently abled attendees, as they will have a guaranteed flat surface with a great variety of artists leading into the familiar Festival layout on the park trail loop.

Expanded Music

Thanks to a new sponsorship by United Community Bank, Arts Huntsville will have two spots for local musicians to play – near the Monte Sano Lodge and at the Pavilion.

Arts Huntsville is also bringing back the hugely popular Opera Bytes by Opera Huntsville on Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Monte Sano Amphitheater.

Grab a Bite

Monte Sano Art Festival will keep your hunger at bay with a great selection of local food trucks and vendors.

Selections include:

  • Frankie’s Crab Shack
  • O Taste & See BBQ
  • Iceworks
  • Happi Pappi
  • Piper & Leaf
  • Yum Yum’s Gourmet Popcorn & Lemonade
  • Suzy’s Pops
  • New South Hot Dog & Sushi
  • Golden Years Ice Cream

Monte Sano Art Festival has been around for over two decades, so it’s exciting to see even more artists added to the mix and a new layout for more accessibility. We’ll be there… how about you?
