New 924-Space Parking Deck Coming to The Orion Amphitheater

A major parking addition is coming to the MidCity District, with a new public parking deck planned across the street from The Orion Amphitheater.

The Huntsville City Council approved a $32.95 million construction contract with Thrash Commercial Contractors, Inc. for the project. The four-story deck will be located across Amphitheater Drive from The Orion, between Sanderson Road and Corporate Drive.

More Than 900 New Parking Spaces

The new deck will add 924 public parking spaces to the area, providing additional parking capacity for The Orion and the surrounding MidCity District.

Plans for the structure include three elevators and stair lobbies, along with landscaping surrounding the deck.

Chapman Sisson Architects designed the new parking facility with both functionality and appearance in mind. Design elements include glass-backed elevators and glass stairwells intended to improve visibility and safety throughout the structure.

The exterior will feature stained precast concrete panels along with a custom composition of illuminated, perforated aluminum panels. According to Chapman Sisson, the design is unique to the area and will help give the parking structure its own visual identity.

Supporting a Growing MidCity

The parking deck represents another significant investment in the area surrounding The Orion Amphitheater, which has become a major destination for concerts and events in Huntsville.

With 924 additional spaces directly across from the venue, the project will expand public parking infrastructure as MidCity continues to grow with new entertainment, dining, retail, residential, and hospitality developments.
