A place where it really is all in the name.

Grandmother’s House is a family-owned restaurant located in Owens Cross Roads. Wenona Moorer, aka grandmother, hosts the eatery in her family home. Her grandparents, George and Vinnie, built the home in 1928 which is situated on a farm that her family has owned since the 1800s. Each room is decorated with family photos, mementos, and heirlooms.

They make everything from scratch using special family recipes. The menus consist of traditional Southern food such as: pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions; chicken & dumplings; and chicken & dressing. They also have delicious homemade desserts. You should try their hearty breakfast menu every Saturday morning! The menu changes each day so be sure to visit their website for the daily offering. You can also place online orders for pickup.

Grandmother’s House opened in 2007 and has grown to a seating capacity of 99, with a recent health rating of 100. They are also working on an outdoor seating area that will be completed soon.

They were directly affected by the COVID pandemic and initially shut down in March of 2020.  After a couple of months, they decided to continue to serve the community by offering customers the ability to preorder and pick-up meals on Sunday. Grandmother’s House created a contactless ordering and pick-up system where customers ordered their meals online, drove through, picked up, and paid for their orders from their vehicles. Once again they are fully functional with no restrictions for dine-in seating. They continue to serve a hungry community!

Southern comfort food is on the menu at Grandmother’s House just a few minutes from Huntsville. You will find their hours listed below. If I were you I would schedule a visit soon – it’s absolutely delicious!
