Huntsville Christmas Parade 2026: Date, Theme, Route & Details

Huntsville Christmas Parade Returns December 1 with “A Rocket City Christmas” Theme

One of Huntsville’s biggest holiday traditions is officially returning to downtown this December!

Mix 96.9 and the Von Braun Center have announced details for the 12th Annual Huntsville Christmas Parade, taking place Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at 6 p.m. in downtown Huntsville. Food City returns as the presenting sponsor for the second year.

This year’s theme, “A Rocket City Christmas,” was selected by the community through an online People’s Choice vote held earlier this summer. After hundreds of votes, the Huntsville-inspired holiday theme came out on top.

“Holiday traditions like the Huntsville Christmas Parade are an important part of what makes a community feel like home,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “For generations, families have gathered in downtown Huntsville to watch the parade, celebrate the season and make memories together.”

Registration for the 2026 parade is now open through October 30.

Businesses, organizations and community groups interested in participating can find registration information at mix969huntsville.com.

Participation is limited, and registrations will be reviewed by a panel for approval, so those hoping to participate are encouraged to register early.

Floats will also have a little extra incentive to go all-out with this year’s theme. A panel of community judges will evaluate floats based on creativity, execution and theme interpretation, with cash prizes awarded to the top three.

“‘A Rocket City Christmas’ is such a fun theme for Huntsville,” said Abby Kay, Mix 96.9 Program Director and Morning Show Host. “There are so many ways our community can put their own spin on it, and I’m already excited to see what our parade participants come up with.”

A New Huntsville Christmas Parade Route for 2026

If watching the Huntsville Christmas Parade is part of your family’s annual holiday tradition, there is one important change to know about this year.

Due to ongoing construction projects throughout downtown Huntsville, the 2026 parade route has been modified.

Spectators and parade participants are encouraged to review the updated route before making plans for parade night.

The parade will still begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, bringing floats, performers, community organizations and plenty of Christmas cheer to downtown Huntsville.

Manna House Named 2026 Parade Beneficiary

This year’s parade will also support a local organization making an impact in the Huntsville community.

Manna House has been selected as the 2026 Huntsville Christmas Parade nonprofit beneficiary.

Manna House provides food, clothing, showers, laundry services, mail services and other resources to individuals experiencing homelessness and others in need throughout the Huntsville community. Its work focuses on providing immediate assistance while also offering dignity, connection and pathways toward greater stability.

Parade attendees will have an opportunity to support Manna House through donation events leading up to the celebration.

VIP Pre-Parade Party Moves Inside the VBC

Another change is coming to the annual VIP Pre-Parade Party.

Because of the modified parade route and downtown construction, Mix 96.9 and the VBC will move this year’s celebration inside the Propst Arena lobby at the Von Braun Center. Landers McClarty returns as the party sponsor.

The family-friendly event will include free food, holiday activities, pictures with Santa and festive activities for children and families.

Admission will also provide another way to support Manna House. Guests interested in attending the VIP Pre-Parade Party will be asked to bring a donation benefiting the organization to one of several upcoming donation drop-off events at participating Food City locations.

Donation dates, locations, requested items and additional details about the party will be announced in the coming weeks.

More Christmas Parade Announcements Coming Soon

There’s still more to come before parade night, including the announcement of the 2026 Huntsville Christmas Parade Grand Marshal.
