Ditto Landing Event Center Taking Shape
Construction is well underway on the $13.2 million Ditto Landing event center, marking a major step forward in the continued transformation of the South Huntsville riverfront.
A building permit for the project was issued on May 29 to Madison County Engineer Chuck Faulkner, and crews have since made significant progress on site. Most recently, work has advanced to roof installation on the event center, which is being created through the conversion of an existing building into a flexible, waterfront event space.
The project stands out as one of the largest recent developments in the region. Since May 19, a total of 192 permits have been issued across Madison, Limestone, and Morgan counties, totaling $63.8 million in construction activity. Of those, only six projects exceeded $1 million, with the Ditto Landing event center leading the way.

Alongside the event venue, work is also progressing on a separate 10,000-square-foot building that will house a future restaurant. County officials are actively seeking an operator for the space, which is expected to offer a relaxed, family-friendly dining experience along the water.
“It’ll be really a nice, relaxing place to just go down and have a drink or have something to eat,” said Madison County Engineer Phil Riddick.
Beyond the vertical construction, several completed improvements are already enhancing the Ditto Landing experience. The East Harbor boat launch is now open to the public at no cost following a year of construction, and a new kayak launch has been added nearby. Crews have also repaved the parking lot, addressing previous issues with uneven surfaces and potholes.
“Nobody likes to drive over potholes, but when you’ve got a boat on a trailer trying to back it in, that’s even more problematic,” Riddick said.
Officials say these upgrades are part of a broader effort to elevate both economic development and quality of life in South Huntsville.
“We’re starting to have these amenities down here that people enjoy that make them want to live in South Huntsville, and it maintains the property values,” Riddick said.
As momentum continues, Ditto Landing is steadily evolving into a more vibrant destination for recreation, dining, and community gatherings along the Tennessee River.
