Decatur Mural Trail

By Katelyn Henderson

In Huntsville we have lots of public art thanks to places like Arts Huntsville, Downtown Huntsville, MidCity District, local businesses, and amazing artists. After you have explored the local art scene, we want to encourage you to take a quick drive over to Decatur to check out the “Chasing Art Project.”

Located at 113 6th Avenue NE at Webster’s Karate of Decatur, AL. It was painted by Michael McPheeters and honors Jimmy “Yellowhorse” Webster. Webster, who recently passed, was a prominent Native American activist in the city of Decatur.

The purpose of the Chasing Art Project is to unite the city with beautifully inspiring and culturally relevant public art displays. Spearheaded by Decatur local Glenn Mitchell, this project welcomes over 30 mural to the area.

“Homecoming” is located at 208 2nd Avenue SE in Decatur, Alabama created by artist, Adam Stephenson.
