There are some places in Huntsville that feel like they’ve simply always been here. Burritt on the Mountain is one of them.
For generations of Huntsville families, Burritt has been the backdrop for field trips, weddings, concerts, summer camps, festivals and quiet afternoons spent looking out over the city. It’s a place where you can step into Huntsville’s history, wander through nature, listen to live music as the sun goes down or simply take in one of the best views in town.
And as Huntsville has grown and changed, Burritt has continued to grow right alongside it.

This week, Burritt on the Mountain unveiled a new brand identity designed to honor more than 70 years of history while better representing everything the beloved mountaintop destination has become.
Created in partnership with Huntsville-based Bold Agency, the new look introduces an updated wordmark, a reimagined flower icon, a new color palette and a message that feels particularly fitting for Burritt: A Fresh Perspective.
A New Look Rooted in Burritt’s History
One of our favorite things about the new branding is how many of its details connect directly back to Burritt.
The ligatures within the new wordmark were inspired by the artistry of blacksmithing, blending traditional craftsmanship with more organic forms inspired by nature. It’s a subtle nod to the skills and stories preserved throughout Burritt’s Historic Park while still feeling fresh and modern.
Longtime Burritt visitors may also recognize something familiar in the new flower icon. The design pays tribute to Burritt’s previous Trillium symbol, reimagining it for this next chapter.
The new standalone “B” icon takes that idea one step further with an invitation to “B on the Mountain.”
And really, that invitation gets to the heart of what Burritt has become.
You can be on the mountain for a history lesson. You can be there for a hike, a concert, a festival, a wedding or a family afternoon. You can bring out-of-town visitors to see Huntsville from above or find a quiet spot to watch the sunset.
There isn’t just one way to experience Burritt.
Inspired by the Mountain
The new color palette might be our favorite part.
Look around the next time you’re at Burritt and you’ll understand exactly where it came from.
There’s blue inspired by the wide-open sky seen from The View, greens representing the mountain’s natural surroundings and the growth of the community below, and a warm coral inspired by those incredible Burritt sunsets.
It feels distinctly like the place it represents.
“This new brand reflects both who Burritt has always been and who we are becoming,” said Melanie Thornton, Burritt CEO. “As Huntsville has grown, Burritt has grown with it, and we want to continue evolving alongside the community we serve.”
Thornton said the organization wants to honor its history while continuing to invite people to experience the property through history, nature, art, recreation or simply as a beautiful place to slow down and reconnect.
“‘A Fresh Perspective’ captures that perfectly,” she said.
More Than a Museum
Burritt has been part of Huntsville since 1955, when it became the city’s first museum.
Dr. William Henry Burritt’s 1938 mansion and the restored 19th-century structures of the Historic Park remain important pieces of the experience, but today, Burritt is so much more than a traditional museum.
It’s a classroom. A concert venue. A hiking destination. A gathering place. A piece of Huntsville history. And, for many of us, it’s tied to memories of growing up and living here.
That’s what makes rebranding a place like Burritt different from simply changing a logo.
There is a lot of history to carry forward.
We’ve watched Huntsville change tremendously over the years, but there’s something comforting about driving up Monte Sano and knowing Burritt is still there overlooking it all. The city below may look a little different every time we visit, but the mountain continues to offer that familiar place to reconnect with Huntsville – its past, its present and now, its future.
We love that the new brand doesn’t try to leave the old Burritt behind. Instead, it feels like an invitation to look at a place we’ve loved for decades from a fresh perspective.
Congratulations to the entire Burritt on the Mountain team on this beautiful new chapter. We can’t wait to see what’s next – and we’ll see you on the mountain.
