Free Back-to-School Backpack & School Supply Giveaway Returns July 25
As the new school year approaches, the City of Huntsville’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Community Awareness for Youth (CAFY) are once again helping local students start the year prepared with their annual Back to School Backpack and School Supply Giveaway.
The free community event takes place on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at Calhoun Community College–Huntsville and is open to students and families across Huntsville and Madison County.

More than just a school supply giveaway, the morning is designed to connect families with resources while offering plenty of fun along the way. Guests arriving early will be welcomed by a live performance from the Huntsville Community Drumline, setting the tone for a high-energy celebration.
Throughout the event, families can enjoy music from event DJs, games, prize giveaways and interactive activities for children of all ages. A drive-thru grocery distribution will also be available while supplies last, providing additional support for local households.
The backpack and school supply distribution will begin later in the morning, with backpacks and supplies available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“This annual event reflects our commitment to uplifting and empowering Huntsville’s youth,” said Dr. Randy Barbour, Jr., Director of Multicultural Affairs. “Our partnership with CAFY strengthens our shared mission of removing barriers, providing essential resources and showing our students they are supported by a community that believes in their potential.”
There is no registration required, making it easy for families to stop by and take advantage of the resources available before classes begin.
