On Friday night, September 14, 2012, the VBC Concert Hall will hold a very different show. Instead of the typical symphony or Broadway performance supporters of Fantasy Playhouse take the stage for an evening of dinner, dancing, and even a little hypnosis at the annual Fantasy Gala Fundraiser.

Theatrical Setting

Friday’s Gala, On Stage with Fantasy sponsored by Simple Helix, is the largest fundraising event for Fantasy, a nonprofit theater group. So what better place to celebrate an organization that has been bringing theater to Huntsville since 1961 than the stage of the VBC?? GENUIS!

And yes I did mention hypnosis. Fantasy’s theatrics do not stop at their location; they’re going all out by bring in Hypnotist Mark Irish, Winner of the International Guild of Stage Hypnotists Comedy Competition. Mark has performed everywhere from the University of Michigan to Georgia Tech to ESPN to David Letterman and even  private performances at the White House. Wanna see him in action? Ticket Price for All

I love a good party. My friends will tell you this without hesitation. If you read our blogs with even a bit of frequency then you’ll know that.

You know what I do not like? Let me rephrase that. You know what I cannot handle? A high ticket price. Though I may dress like a movie star, I do not come with the bank account of one.

So what’s all this matter? This year Fantasy has created 2 ticket options with, you guessed it, 2 ticket prices and I think this is an awesome idea!

Let me break down the 2 options:

Ticket Option 1: Guests will enjoy the full evening’s events.

Price: $100
Arrival Time: 6pm
This ticket includes:

• A cocktail hour starting at 6pm
• Passed hors d’ oeuvres
• A seated dinner with choice of entree
• Entertainment by Hypnotist Mark Irish
• Two complimentary cocktails during the evening
• A dessert bar
• Cash bar
• Dancing on stage with DJ Tyler King

Ticket Option 2: Guests will enjoy the after dinner portion of the event only.

Cost: $50 per person 2 tickets for $50

Arrival Time: 8:30pm
This ticket includes:

• A dessert bar
• Dancing on stage with DJ Tyler King
• Silent auction
• Two complimentary cocktails

With prices like these, Fantasy is opening their doors to a lot of folks (like myself) who might otherwise write off an event they’d like to support because they simply cannot afford it’s $100 price tag. By having a tiered pricing system, you can even afford to get a new dress for the event! Attire is cocktail dress BTW. And if there’s one thing I like more than parties it’s dressing up!

Fairy Tale Chairs

Another new addition to this year’s event will be found in the silent auction. Fantasy commissioned five fairytale-themed children’s chairs, all designed and painted by local artists Laurie Popp, Mary Jones, Judy Cherry, Amy Mayfield, and Debbie Russler.

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater has been a respected member of the North Alabama arts community since 1961, operating as a non-profit agency under IRS 501(c) (3). The purpose of our organization is to educate and foster the interest and ability of area children in creative theater arts through three core programs:

• Production of live children’s theater at the VBC Playhouse
• Education in theater arts through the Fantasy Academy of Theater
