By Katelyn Henderson

If you’ve ever watched Rocket Chef and thought, “That chef needs to be on that stage,” now’s your chance to make it happen.

Nominations are officially open for Rocket Chef 2027, Huntsville’s annual live cooking competition that brings together some of the area’s most talented chefs for an unforgettable night of food, entertainment, and friendly competition. Nominate a chef here!

What Is Rocket Chef?

For more than a decade, Rocket Chef has been one of Huntsville’s most anticipated culinary events. Inspired by popular televised cooking competitions, the event challenges local chefs with mystery ingredients, a ticking clock, and a live audience of nearly 600 people cheering them on.

Before the competition begins, guests enjoy a tasting reception featuring signature dishes from each participating chef’s restaurant, making Rocket Chef just as much a celebration of Huntsville’s food scene as it is a cooking competition.

While event dates and tickets for Rocket Chef 2027 will be announced later, nominations are the first step in building next year’s lineup of competitors.

Know a Chef Who Should Compete?

Rocket Chef welcomes chefs from a wide variety of culinary backgrounds and experiences. Whether they’re leading a well-known restaurant, running a food truck, creating memorable catering experiences, or making waves in Huntsville’s growing food scene, organizers are looking for passionate chefs who are ready to put their skills to the test.

If someone comes to mind, now is the perfect time to nominate them.

Supporting a Bigger Mission

Beyond the excitement of the competition, Rocket Chef serves an important purpose.

All proceeds from the event benefit Merrimack Performing Arts Center, supporting Merrimack Happy Headquarters and its mission of providing inclusive arts programming for individuals with special needs throughout North Alabama.

What began in 2008 with a single dance class has grown into a thriving organization offering more than 20 arts programs that help hundreds of participants discover creativity, confidence, and community through the arts.

Every nomination, ticket purchase, sponsorship, and attendee helps support that mission.
