Tulum Cantina & Grill
671 Martin Rd SW, Huntsville, AL 35824
You don’t need your passport to take a trip to Tulum, Mexico anymore. If authentic Mexican cuisine is what you like, it’s an absolute must you check out one of Huntsville’s newest restaurants…
Tulum Cantina & Grill
Since opening, I’ve dined in and ordered carry-out on numerous occasions. Every single time, the customer service has been second to none. The food always comes out fresh, piping hot and in a timely manner. You will thoroughly enjoy the family-like atmosphere. Once stepping inside, you forget you’re on Martin Road in Huntsville. They’ve got a small jar at the register full of Mexican candies to purchase, and even sell their own popsicles!

The menu can be a bit overwhelming, as there are so many options to choose from. Rest assured, you can’t go wrong with any choice. Every day they have lunch specials until 3 p.m., where you’re able to “create your own meal”. Many of these lunch menu options are smaller portions and at a discounted price, which is great. Also important to note, Tulum Cantina & Grill does Happy Hour from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. During this time, margaritas are only $4 (all of their drinks contain 1.25 oz. of liquor, unless specially requested to add more).
As a beer and margarita lover, my go-to is the mango margarona. It comes in a large glass, and always a treat to pour the corona in once your margarita empties.

The “crazy dip” appetizer is another one of my favorites. It includes a combination of steak or grilled chicken, chorizo, onions, and cheese, served with tortillas. Sounds crazy, but the flavors marry together perfectly.
It’s evident the chefs at Tulum Cantina are inspired to put their own twist on regular dishes. I felt this even more when trying their “Tulum Bowl”. It’s a mix of grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, and onions with Mexican rice and cheese dip served with tortillas. This bowl was delicious overall. The meats are seasoned great and the cheese sauce is the perfect exclamation mark.
They’ve also just started serving tortas, which are also very tasty. I elected for carnitas on mine, a great choice. The tortas are huge, and can definitely be split for more than one person or meal.

If you’re not totally sure what to order, I highly recommend a combination dinner plate, which allows you to get a little taste of everything. All are served with rice and beans.
Tulum is open 7 days a week, until 10 p.m. Located at 671 Martin Rd SW, make sure you stop by to check them out and enjoy some good eats!
