Tacos PowPow, a new food truck in the Huntsville area is serving up delicious, authentic Mexican eats. Located at 8006 Old Madison Pike in Madison, the family owned business is usually set up outside, sunshine or rain until 8:30pm. The first thing you’ll notice once you walk up to the window is the amazing customer service, and very reasonable pricing for such generous portions.
My first time stopping by, I tried the birria tacos and they were delicious. The birria was tender and cheesy, inside a perfectly crisp shell. Their consume dipping sauce was super flavorful as well. Tacos PowPow offers a wide variety of protein choices to suit everyone’s preference. They’ve got asada, pollo, al pastor, carnitas, chorizo, campechano, buche, birria, tripa, lengua, cabeza, and even a veggie option. If you love Jarritos, you’ll be delighted to find the large cooler out front loaded with all flavors of the Mexican soda pop.
Since the birria tacos were so good… I decided to try them in quesadilla form, and they did not disappoint! They were much larger than the average quesadilla. One thing about this food truck that I love is that they never skimp or short you on anything, every plate is served full.
Another favorite entree of mine from Tacos PowPow is their tortas. Just like everything else, they’re made to order and come out steaming hot. On my torta I like chorizo (you can choose any protein you’d like), cheese, cilantro, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. The buns are huge and toasted just right, to balance out the airy inside bread.
You’ll be impressed to find out that the same family who runs Tacos PowPow, owns a Hispanic grocery store in the same shopping center. La Tienda, which opened in 2022, has a large assortment of authentic products that otherwise would not be available to local customers. Produce, meats, Hispanic seasonings and drinks are all here at La Tienda.
It’s no surprise that they have a five star rating on review sites, as this is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in the Huntsville/Madison area. From the spicy salsa and fresh tortilla chips, to the pickled jalapeños served on the side, this family pays attention to detail. You can feel the love in every dish.
