Charcuterie Classes are the new hype these days! Graze Charcuterie Co. and Honey Box Huntsville have teamed up to provide classes around town at various locations. The classes are hands-on with pointers on mixing and pairing.
MidCity District is a destination that is chalk full of entertainment for an entire day or evening. Between bowling at Stars & Strikes, collecting tickets at Dave & Busters, hitting golf balls at Top Golf, climbing routes at High Point, or painting ceramics at Color Me Mine, there are endless possibilities. Have a drink at The Camp and a burger at Wahlburger’s afterwards. It is a one stop shop!
Wanna share the love? You should make a reservation at CattyShack, Inc. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and adopting shelter cats in Alabama. They ask for a $10.00 donation, which includes a pre-packaged snack and beverage, and the funds go right back into supporting the care of the kitties. Not a bad deal for one full hour of decompressing in a room full of cool cats and kittens.
The Von Braun Center has quite a few events planned near the day of love. The weekend before you can catch the Huntsville Havoc and musical acts Maddie & Tae or Huntsville Symphony Orchestra’s Bruckner 5. On the following weekend, there is Broadway Theatre League’s “The Henry Fords Innovation Nation” (FREE – but you must reserve tickets), comedian Bert Kreischer, and Fantasy Playhouse’s Alice in Wonderland. A new contender in town is the Starlight Pinball Arcade at Lowe Mill. It is only $12.00 for all day play! Perfect location to play a few games between enjoying all the local shops. Before you head out, I recommend hitting up Rafael’s Table down the hall to grab a bag of artisanal small-batch pasta and specialty pasta sauce for a romantic dinner.
Painting classes are a classic date night idea. Check out the event calendar at Pinot’s Palette to view upcoming paint nights. They serve beer and wine, and customers are allowed to bring their own food. It is located in The Village of Providence – many options to grab food (or a drink to bring out your inner Picasso) beforehand.
Another artsy idea – take a pottery class at Designbyhart Studio. You work at your own wheel to make a bowl, then come back two weeks later to glaze your piece. So much fun!
Catch a show at Shenanigans Comedy Theatre. You can find anything from improv, traveling comedy shows, bingo, game night, live music, and drag shows. It is a welcoming environment, and the venue has amazing acoustics. They have concession stand style grub and alcoholic beverages for sale, too.
Take a tour of the historical Weeden House Museum and Garden. The home was built in 1819, the same year Alabama became a state, and was once the home of painter and poet Maria Howard Weeden. It is elegantly beautiful and chalked full of rich history. Head over to Domaine South for lunch and a glass of wine afterwards!
Grab some fresh air! Stroll through Twickenham & Old Towne to admire the historical houses or enjoy some fresh air on a greenway or trail. Check out the We Are Huntsville Greenways, Trails and Parks Directory – there are plenty of options regardless of where you live around the city.
