A Day at the Cook Museum
The Cook Museum of Natural Science is a state-of-the-art natural science museum located just a short drive from Huntsville in downtown Decatur, Alabama. They have recently opened back up to the public and we decided to visit!
The Cook Museum has been open for little over a year and it is a sight to see! If your family likes the outdoors, learning, and interactive activities, this is the perfect day trip.
We were initially greeted by a welcoming staff and told all the socially distant guidelines they have implemented to make your visit at the museum as safe as possible. There are sanitizing stations throughout and masks are required. This was an easy “ask” to spend the day doing something outside of the house!
They have 9 different exhibit areas throughout the museum that cover topics from Rivers and Streams, The Wonderful World of Insects, and Oceans. Each exhibit has impressive displays that make you feel completely submerged in the topic.
Our absolute favorite stop along the tour was their newest resident, Kale! Kale is a non-releasable Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle. He is an amazing addition to the Cook Museum and really looked like he was enjoying his new home! They are hosting Turtle Fun Days – be sure to check those out!
