Some say music is the best medicine. There’s no doubt that the jazzy rhythms of swing music can be a cure all, especially when you get on your feet and dance. And this Saturday March 2nd, you can dance the night AND raise money for a great cause at the AIDS Action Coalition Swing Dance Gala Swing Dance Gala benefiting the AIDS Action Coalition.

Event Origins
Jennifer Nye, of the Dance Club, and Gina Barlow, events coordinator with the AIDS Action Coalition, put their heads together to come up with an event that would have similar success as previous dance events held for AAC.
“I thought that a Gala was a brilliant idea and the idea from then out had blossomed. I think that this event will help raise awareness and raise money for the necessary research to get eradicate HIV/AIDS,” Jennifer told me.
This event is for everyone to enjoy, so come on out.
“Overall, I think that this will be a great event for all couples and singles that enjoy music and/or dancing. Swing dancing is a lot of fun and I think everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy it.”
Plus tickets are only $15 and the proceeds benefit the AIDS Action Coalition, a great cause.
The Cause
The AIDS Action Coalition (AAC) is a nonprofit dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV & AIDS in the 12 counties of North Alabama and caring for people and families living with the disease. Founded in 1988, AAC began by offering support to those living with HIV & AIDS in simple ways like providing dinner or assisting with rent payments.
In 1992, AAC opened the Joe Davis Clinic to provide medical services to HIV infected persons, regardless of the client’s ability to pay. The Davis Clinic currently serves more than 500 active clients and has touched the lives of thousands since first opening its doors.
