Five months ago I found myself suddenly and unwontedly single. Some of you know the story, and the rest of you can Google it. To be frank, as time goes by I’m ever-more trepidatious about starting to date again. In fact I’d almost rather swallow razor blades than jump back into the dating pool in Huntsville.

Single?
For my fellow Huntsvillians who have outgrown the downtown dating scene (hate ‘Hate It or Date It’ anyone?) I’ve found an alternative. Brix on Airport Road is having The Dating Game where four pre-screened contestants are matched with a date from the audience. Plus, winners get a free night on the town to see if their love grows.
The Facebook event by Brix promises the contestants are “one dashing, debonair man & one hot Dr. of Pharmacy woman” and asks you to drag a bashful single pal out and cheer them on to win.
Listen to the best part: Leading up to the actual event there is a cocktail hour where singles mix and mingle. What better way to revive the old mojo?
A Revamped Dating Game
The Dating Game will be done in the style of the 1960’s television game show. Best of all, the fabulous Matt Stearns from America’s Party Pros will emcee the show. On the night of the event there will be 3 competitors chosen from the audience for each contestant. They will compete with each other to win a date.
Just like on the original show, contestants are not able to see competitors but may quiz them. The audience votes to select who goes out with whom. Dates come with on an all-expenses-paid night on the town.
Here’s how the night will go: at 6 pm the cocktail and mingle hour will take place. Then The Dating Game begins at 7. Food will be provided and happy hour priced beverages available. A ticket is $10 when purchased before February 25th. Afterwards the price increases to $15.

The Contestants
Curious about just who will be playing in Thursday’s game of love? Let me introduce you to the contestants:
- Jose: A tall, dark and handsome man who also happens to be Latin. Ladies you will not want to miss out on Jose who is the complete package: a successful business man with a huge heart.
- Lindsay: A petite doctor of pharmacy, Lindsay is a 2002 graduate of Ole Miss. She spends her free time working out, volunteering with local groups, and seeing country music concerts.
- Mallory: 20-something Mallory is a dark-haired, green-eyed beauty from Tennessee. Her work at NASA as a Flight Systems Engineer brought her to Huntsville. For fun she enjoys volunteering & traveling to exotic locations, like South Africa where she recently vacationed for 3 weeks.
- And…a surprise mystery bachelor.
